Everything Changes - Present and Past
Sunday Apr 22, 2018
Sunday Apr 22, 2018
Two part message:
The power of the resurrected Saviour changes our present. Because of this truth we now can live with victory over sin and brokenness. Our new life has begun (2 Corinthians 5:17). Knowing that we one day have this future meeting it influences how we live today. This power gives us strength, joy, peace and life. It’s the abundant life he offers. Present (David Baker).
The power of the resurrected Saviour changes our past. Ephesians 1:7&8 helps us see that we are forgiven. Often our past defines our future but what we see from this truth is that it’s been forgiven. We live in the power of his grace. Romans 6:5-11 Past (Ron Baker).

Everything Changes - Future
Sunday Apr 08, 2018
Sunday Apr 08, 2018
The power of the resurrected savior changes our future. The scriptures teach that one day Jesus will return to make all things new. It teaches that he will return again to bring to himself those that have placed their faith and trust in him. The resurrection makes this possible for all those that have trusted him. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Speak of this day. We see this inheritance in no better place than 1 Peter 1:5-8

Compassion: Jonah Series - Week 4
Sunday Mar 25, 2018
Sunday Mar 25, 2018
Week 4 — Limitless (Jonah 4:1-4, 10-11; Matthew 12:40) Have you ever thought God’s goodness could run out? Oh sure, in theory it knows no bounds, but in reality that doesn’t always seem to be true. That line of thinking can sometimes result in us becoming angry toward God when he is gracious to people that we don’t think deserve it. The truth is, God will extend his compassion to anyone and everyone if they seek him fully, and that includes us. The height of God’s compassion was seen in Jesus. (He gave the world the ‘sign of Jonah’ so that we could see this in it’s fullest glory.) By making this connection we can see that the compassion of God is, indeed, limitless; and ours can be, too, because of that.

Week 3 — The Butterfly Effect (Jonah 3:1-5, 10)
The Butterfly Effect: a small cause can have profoundly large effects. Often we forget this is true of God and, because of that, it is true for us, too. The effect of showing compassion is amplified when we connect it with truth. Let’s face it, compassion without truth is hollow sentiment and truth without compassion is reckless. Jonah shows us that connecting God’s truth and compassion can have profound effects—far beyond what we might ever envision.

Week 2 — Message in a Bottle (Jonah 2:1-2, 9-10)
Often, when we move toward the mess we start out with great intentions. We’ve answered God’s call with fervour. But, if the situation drags on, we can start to move on our own strength. It starts with God and gradually we forget he’s in it with us. This can often leave us feeling trapped and insufficient. Moreover, we can feel as though there is nowhere to turn. Usually it takes hitting rock bottom to remember to turn to God. But what if we remembered to turn to him earlier? What might happen if we sent our message in a bottle before it was an S.O.S.? This week we will explore what Jonah’s prayer to God, from the belly of the fish, can teach us about approaching the God of the second chance.

Week 1 — Move Toward the Mess (Jonah 1:1-3)
The most difficult thing about compassion is actually showing it. Thinking it is easy. In fact, I would suggest we think we are far more compassionate than we actually are. But thinking it is simply being sympathetic and it doesn’t go very far to resolving the situation. It’s even harder when we don’t like the people involved in the mess. It’s a natural reaction, but one that God hasn’t intended for us to take. The calling God had for Jonah was to rise up and go; show your enemies compassion. God asked him to move toward the mess and this is what he asks of us.

Everything about the Christian faith hinges on who Jesus was and is. Literally everything comes down to Him. Today we will give people room to decide if they are ready to embrace Jesus as Saviour.
